Home to more than 14,000 students, Lamar University is one of the fastest growing universities in Texas and is a member of the Texas State University System. Lamar offers more than 100 programs of study leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees. The 270 acre campus in Beaumont is about 90 miles east of Houston and about 25 miles west of Louisiana.

Understanding the Challenges

Members of the Lamar Athletics management team did not have a high-level online store and had developed a new brand initiative that it wanted to roll out effectively. Additionally, Lamar was in the process of adding Football as a sport and desired to have a broad selection of products including Football related apparel including personalized jerseys for men, women, and youth.

Setting New Objectives

The Lamar Athletics Marketing Staff set out to find a vendor that could provide a broad selection of merchandise for alumni, parents, fans, and students of Lamar University Athletics. The team also was determined to gain tighter control of branded logos used in the market to develop consistent name recognition for the athletics program at Lamar.

The Advanced-Online Solution

After meeting with the Advanced-Online team, Advanced-Online was selected by Lamar Athletics to build an online store for all market channels needed with an eye on brand control, revenue enhancement, product quality, and customer service representative of the University.

Advanced-Online took responsibility for building a product line that now stands at over 800 products including personalized jerseys, broad choices for alumni apparel, and the largest selection of branded merchandise for Lamar Athletics in the country.

Lamar was instrumental in helping Advanced-Online develop their current College Marketing campaign including printed flyers for special events, design capability for advertising, discounted product promotions every 2 weeks, email campaigns, branded merchandise tags, and banners to develop online sales in partnership with Lamar Athletics.
